"The Greeks perfected the nude in order that man might feel like a god, and in a sense this is still its function, for although we no longer suppose that God is like a beautiful man, we still feel close to divinity in those flashes of self-identification when, through our own bodies, we seem aware of a universal order."
- from Kenneth Clark's 'The Nude'

monolith

i started work on my wicked-big drawing this week. i nailed a 1.13x4.9m length of 300gsm arches paper to the wall (crooked) and i'm drawing an enormous supine figure, inch by inch. it is a work about a lot of things but mostly it is a work about the human body. i'm terrified.
